Duel in the Desert Duathlon

Located in Bend, Oregon, the Duel in The Desert Duathlon and 5K Run gives you a chance to enjoy the beautiful and scenic central Oregon experience. The courses are located west of Bend affording exceptional scenery. This charitable event, brought to you by the Mt. Bachelor Rotary and Northwest Crossing, benefits Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Oregon.

Registration Options
Mail-in registration must be postmarked by May 23rd
Registration closing date is May 28

Cost

Duathlon:  $30 individual, $50 relay team.  Teams must submit one entry per participant (with signed waivers) stapled together.
5K Run:  $15 per entrant.

Divisions (Male/Female)

  • 19 and under
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-65
  • 66 and older


Teams

2 or 3 members may be mixed male/female. Team members cannot race as individuals. Awards for all first place finishers within each division.

Courses
All running and cycling events will begin and end at Summit High School. This will be the transition area.

Road- Bike Course
Option

5k – 18 mile ride – 5k run This is an out and back traveling from Summit High School west on Skyliner Rd. with a slight overall elevation gain. The turn around will be at 9 miles just before the Tumalo bridge, the course will then descend back to Summit High.

Off-Road Course Option

Option: This course has the same 5k runs, but the route will head out from Summit High School along Skyliner Rd. for approx. 1 mile then on to trails west of Bend. The course is approximately 13 miles, mostly single track with some road and double track.

5K Run

Mostly on trails and dirt paths with some asphalt.  The run is located north of Summit High School on rolling terrain with some short hills, and some asphalt, with a few short hills.
