Meet District Governor Mike Fischnaller
Michael “Mike”
Fischnaller was born in 1946 in Omak, WA and
graduated from Omak High School in 1964. After his first year
of college at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg,
WA, Uncle Sam changed his status from fun loving student to
Infantry Intelligence, the ultimate oxymoron. Mike spent 20
months in Vietnam, most of it in the 4th Infantry Division Long
Range Recon Patrol (LRRP) where he made more than thirty
four-day reconnaissance missions in the Central Highlands.
After Vietnam, Mike began his 33 year career with Pacific
Northwest Bell. While with PNB the company changed its name
three times and he moved 11 times. During that time Mike
completed his undergraduate education, graduating from
Northwest Christian College, Eugene, Oregon, in Managerial
Leadership. Mike retired from Qwest in 2001, having held sales
and management positions including Sales and Management
Training Manager (good preparation for
District Trainer).
Since 2001 Mike has been the Vice President of New Pacific
Corp., a family held commercial property investment firm. Mike
is responsible for managing properties and analyzing new
investment opportunities for the company. New Pacific Corp. has
industrial properties, retail service stations and a commercial
office building, most of which are located in the
Eugene-Springfield area.
Mike became a Rotarian in 1979 when he joined the Rotary Club
of Roseburg. After moving to the Springfield area, he became a
member of the RC of Springfield in 1990, held numerous Board
positions and served as president in 1994-1995. Mike also
served on the club’s Membership and Rotary Foundation
committees as well as Club Secretary. At the district level he
has served on the District Training Committee since 2002, Chair
(2006-2008), and has been an instructor for the District
Leadership Academy since 2002.
Mike and Marlee were married in 1997. Together they have five
adult children and one grandchild. They are active in Eugene
First Baptist Church, enjoy travel, whitewater rafting and Mike
is a “Cowboy Action Shooter”. Mike and Marlee are
strong supporters of The Rotary Foundation. Both are Paul
Harris Fellows,
level two members of the Bequest Society and Mike is a member
of the Paul Harris Society.
